Description

Durante el ciclo vital se producen grandes cambios que afectan todas las áreas del ser humano. Cada etapa posee características fundamentales y propias de cada edad y el conocimiento de dichos cambios puede llevar a un crecimiento y desarrollo sano y adecuado. Mediante el desarrollo de este curso a través de un sitio web interactivo, se pretende que quienes accedan al sitio, revisen cada etapa del ciclo vital en relación a características específicas y factores de riesgo para la vida. Asimismo, el sitio posee para cada edad pautas de autoevaluación y evaluación que permitirán tener una idea clara del proceso vital que se está desarrollando. He covers attitudes and objectives of students in an introductory level class, format of lectures, presentation techniques, preparation, evaluation and teaching tools and the nature of statistical analysis in social science. The talk was given as part of a workshop in September 2012 at the Department of Sociology, University of Oxford, for the QMteachers project www.sociology.ox.ac.uk/qmteachers. Bill Jacoby is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University and Director of the ICPSR (Michigan) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research. Wavelets are localized basis functions, good for representing short-time events. The coefficients at each scale are filtered and subsampled to give coefficients at the next scale. This course provides an analytic framework for understanding the roles that gender and race play in defining the work worlds of women and men in our society, including ways in which gender intersects with race and class. The course examines specific workplace-related policies through a gender/race lens, including welfare policy, comparable worth, affirmative action, parental leave policy, child care policy and working time policies. Students are required to investigate ways in which these policies address gender and racial inequities, and think critically about mechanisms for change.
