This course is designed for high-intermediate ESL students who need to develop better listening comprehension and oral skills, which will primarily be achieved by detailed instructions on pronunciation. Our focus will be on (1) producing accurate and intelligible English, (2) becoming more comfortable listening to rapidly spoken English, and (3) learning common expressions, gambits, and idioms used in both formal and informal contexts. Description

This workshop is designed to help advanced students of ESL and bilingual students to write clearly, accurately and effectively in a professional or academic technical environment. In class, we will focus on analyzing examples of various forms of technical writing. In addition, while 21F.225/6 is not a grammar review, we will address many of the common problems of advanced non-native writers of technical English. Class members will occasionally be the authors of the work under review. They will also occasionally be responsible for leading group discussions and for short oral presentations. The course, then, is not a grammar class nor a thesis editing service though we will spend considerable time developing student's editorial skills. Constructive partic This workshop is designed to help advanced students of ESL and bilingual students to write clearly, accurately and effectively in a professional or academic technical environment. The website is intended to support our staff by providing a resource about dyslexia and by highlighting the good practice amongst teaching staff which our students have found helpful. One of our aims is to demonstrate that some elements of what is good practice for all work extremely well for dyslexic students and therefore staff designing teaching programmes do not necessarily have to do anything extra for dyslexic students. We have tried to produce something which would provide information and insight into dyslexia and how it can affect students and their learning rather than just a list of dos and don’ts.
