The Stranraer Cutting Crew Facebook page was setupby the Hairdressing team in Stranraer initially to encourage communication between the learners and tutors. Gradually throughout the academic year this has grown to be much more than a communication vehicle for learners and their tutor. Within the site there are now a number of secure groups for the various courses taught as well as school links and local hairdressing salons to encourage the employability skills of the learners. It is embedded in the local community as clubs, such as, the camera club have been involved in the events run by the hairdressing team in the town.Subjects

The case study involved the use of iPad tablets in learning and teaching for HND Sound Production and Music Performance courses. This case study involved the use of tablet devices to record, edit and disseminate videos of practical uses of mixing desks for the units ‘HM1 34 -Sound Production Theory 1 and DJ36 34 – Sound Production Practice 1′. Students were able to view these instructional videos online and download them to their own devices for reinforcement, further study and in situ to help in their practical work.Subjects

This case study focuses on the approach Supported Learning lecturer Eileen Imlah adopted in assisting students with additional support needs to engage in using a wide range of software and hardware resources. As well as facilitating the use of technologies, the lecturer was keen help students create a resource to record and share their learning, and to document how they use technologies with staff they encounter within their support teams. In doing so the goal was to create information that would enable their support teams to assist them in using these technologies in other aspects of their daily lives. The students worked with the lecturer to create a Personal Computing eBook which could be shared in a variety formats e.g. PDF and Microsoft Word.Subjects
