Description

We study the morphological changes of the various organs that make up systems of domestic species and the proposed objectives, the student will recognize, explain and systematize the cadaverous alterations, development, circulatory, metabolic, inflammatory, parasitic and tumor of various organs and animal systems; will perform necropsies regulated in different domestic species and reports; and obtain and use bibliographic information on the subject. Description

This course is designed to give the student a clear understanding of the pathophysiology of the menstrual cycle, fertilization, implantation, ovum growth development, differentiation and associated abnormalities. Disorders of fetal development including the principles of teratology and the mechanism of normal and abnormal parturition will be covered as well as the pathophysiology of the breast and disorders of lactation. Fetal asphyxia and its consequences will be reviewed with emphasis on the technology currently available for its detection. In addition the conclusion of the reproductive cycle, menopause, and the use of hormonal replacement will be covered. Evolution and pathogenicity of viruses

Description

Professor Peter Simmonds studies the epidemiology, evolution and emergence of a wide range of human pathogenic viruses. RNA viruses are major pathogens that represent the majority of new viruses emerging over time. They are particularly good at evading the host's response to infection. A better understanding of the interaction between virus and host can lead to a better control of viral infections.
