Química (Preparación para la Universidad) Química (Preparación para la Universidad)

Description

Music studio doors

Description

This interactive resource introduces students to the idea of double doors used in recording studios. It explains how a sound lock is produced by keeping one of the two doors shut, and describes the materials that should ideally be used to construct such doors. The resource also features a diagram depicting how recording studio doors function.

Recording studio windows

Description

This resource discusses the factors influencing the construction of windows in a music recording studio, emphasising the need for large windows and the associated risks of sound leakage that these pose. It then outlines the construction techniques and materials: two or more panes of thick glass sealed in place with a vibration resistant material and tilted at an angle to deflect sound. A diagram is provided and students can click between the two pages of explanatory text as they see fit.

Recording studio

Description

This interactive, Flash-based resource illustrates the ideal layout of a recording studio, emphasising how studios should be thought of not as one space, but several spaces each with a specific purpose. The resource presents an overhead-view diagram of a studio and invites students to click on the individual spaces, such as the live room, the control room and the isolation booth, to find out more. Information about what takes place in each space, and what equipment it is likely to contain, is provided.

Recording studio construction

Description

This learning object looks at the factors influencing the construction of a recording studio. Using text and diagrams, it explores acoustics, the science of controlling the quality of sound in buildings, and describes the main concerns of architectural acoustics. The design and layout of the studio itself is then examined, taking into account the construction of, and materials used for, the floor, doors, walls and windows. Quiz questions test the students' understanding as they proceed through the learning object and an accompanying assessment item consolidates what they have learned. A number of additional built-in tools are available to enhance students' experience of the resource. These include a magnifying glass, a calculator, a colour changer and a notepad.
