11.493 Legal Aspects of Property and Land Use (MIT) 11.493 Legal Aspects of Property and Land Use (MIT)

Description

This course is designed to offer an advanced introduction to key legal issues that arise in the area of property and land-use in American law, with a comparative focus on the laws of India and South Africa. The focus of the course is not on law itself, but on the policy implications of various rules, doctrines and practices which are covered in great detail. Legal rules regulating property are among the most fundamental to American, and most other, economies and societies. The main focus is on American property and land use law due to its prominence in international development policy and practice as a model, though substantial comparative legal materials are also introduced from selected non-western countries such as India and South Africa. Taking a Sexual History

Description

Sexual activity is a health behaviour and therefore it is important that doctors are able to gather information about sex confidently and competently. In this consultation, the patient presents to his GP with a worry that he may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease. It is important for the GP to enquire about the patient's risk factors in a sensitive and non-judgmental way. The GP needs to gather information about the patient's sexual activity and work with the patient to negotiate a plan.

Description

This is a Photograph of King George V leaving Doxfords shipyard, Pallion, 15 June 1917. Reference: DS.DOX/6/14/1/3 On 22 November Prince William will be visiting Sunderland and South Tyneside to take part in a number of youth development events. During the visit he will also officially open Haven Point, the new leisure centre in South Shields. To celebrate this Tyne & Wear Archives has produced a short flickr set remembering past royal visits to the region?s shipyards. Most of the visits featured here took place during difficult times and they gave a real boost to public spirits in the face of two World Wars. A short blog relating to these images can be read here . These images are part of the Tyne & Wear Archives Shipyard Collection. In July 2013 the outstanding historical significance of the Collection was recognised by UNESCO through its inscription to the UK Memory of the World Register.
