Description

This class deals with the fundamentals of characterizing and recognizing patterns and features of interest in numerical data. We discuss the basic tools and theory for signal understanding problems with applications to user modeling, affect recognition, speech recognition and understanding, computer vision, physiological analysis, and more. We also cover decision theory, statistical classification, maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation, nonparametric methods, unsupervised learning and clustering. Additional topics on machine and human learning from active research are also talked about in the class. This course is designed for undergraduate and graduate students in science, social science and engineering programs who need to learn fundamental programming skills quickly but not in great depth. The course is ideal for undergraduate research positions or summer jobs requiring C++. It is not a class for experienced programmers in C++. Students with no programming background are welcome. Topics include control structures, arrays, functions, classes, objects, file handling, and simple algorithms for common tasks. This course is offered during the Independent Activities Period (IAP), which is a special 4-week term at MIT that runs from the first week of January until the end of the month. The Profound and Complex Needs Project has compiled a range of free and open source resources, many of which are portable and run from a USB drive, for you to use in your teaching and learning. Description

You could use templates to begin the process of reflection. Here is a two stage template you can modify for your own use; Stage 1: A very personal consideration of events etc. You may only want to keep this for yourself to see. Stage 2: Translating your feeling and thoughts into a record that can be shown to others together with extended analysis. The entries do not need to be large but related to the topic.

Description

Here is a two stage template you can modify for your own use; Stage 1: A very personal consideration of events etc. You may only want to keep this for yourself to see. Stage 2: Translating your feeling and thoughts into a record that can be shown to others together with extended analysis. The entries do not need to be large but related to the topic.
