Description

This course covers analog circuit analysis and design, focusing on the tools and methods necessary for the creative design of useful circuits using active devices. The class stresses insight and intuition, applied to the design of transistor circuits and the estimation of their performance. The course concentrates on circuits using the bipolar junction transistor, but the techniques that are studied can be equally applied to circuits using JFETs, MOSFETs, MESFETs, future exotic devices, or even vacuum tubes. Economic concepts such as equilibrium, rational choice, utility maximization, Bayesian beliefs, game theory, and behavior under uncertainty are discussed in light of these phenomena. The learning objectives for this lesson include, firstly, a discussion on the need for your organisation to provide integrative approaches to promoting equality and valuing diversity. This resource introduces Harvard referencing, the method used in written pieces of academic work to inform the readers about the published sources of information used. Study skills : Harvard referencing (standalone version)

Description

This resource introduces Harvard referencing, the method used in written pieces of academic work to inform the readers about the published sources of information used. The resource explains why Harvard referencing should be used (including issues of formatting and consistency): to acknowledge other people's work and to avoid plagiarism, a topic which is explored at some length here. Citations are also explained, and full guidelines and examples of how to cite correctly and make references to different types of media (e.g. books and journal articles) are provided. How to build reference tables is also covered, and a quiz helps to consolidate what students have learned from the resource.

This online practical tutorial covers skills using MS Word to manage tables and images effectively. It builds upon materials covered in http://fms-itskills.ncl.ac.uk/pgres/dmcl and should be completed in conjunction with this tutorial. In particular, this course covers how to manage tables using table styles and new styles; managing images including creating your own using PDF selector, screen capture and MS PowerPoint; and using captions, cross-references, lists of figures/tables and update references shortcuts to manage object referencing.
