Includes audio/video content: AV faculty introductions. This innovative, trans-faculty subject teaches how information technologies (IT) are reshaping and redefining the health care marketplace through improved economies of scale, greater technical efficiencies in the delivery of care to patients, advanced tools for patient education and self-care, network integrated decision support tools for clinicians, and the emergence of e-commerce in health care. Student tutorials provide an opportunity for interactive discussion. Interdisciplinary project teams comprised of Harvard and MIT graduate students in medicine, business, law, education, engineering, computer science, public health, and government collaborate to design innovative IT applications. Relationship Marketing

Description

Cadbury experts and the famous Gorilla adverts help the Project construct relationship marketing video material which shows where marketing is going in the new world of social networking. Update 17/09/2008 Initially the material shown was produced following the successful social networking campaign to bring back the Wispa bar for a short period. Cadbury subsequently decided to bring the bar back for good, and the additional final chapter explains how this came about.

Dissemination of research: Networking

Description

This unit is part of a collaboratively produced set of 5 units, created using the Xerte toolkit, aimed at academic researchers to enable them to enhance the dissemination of their research outputs. Through a mixture of text, videos and reflective activities, 'Networking' allows participants to recognise some of the available social media tools; reflect on the potential benefits/drawbacks of the use of these tools; learn more about the technical aspects of the use of social media; recognise other dissemination activities such as conference attendance.

Using a social networking site to build an academic learning community

Description

In 2009, a social networking site based on the ELGG open source system was used to build a learning community of academics within Edinburgh Napier university. Last year the site was trialled with a group of professional MSc students and an evaluation run on the site functionality. Since then many improvements have been made and a repeat evaluation is planned.
